Fatality confirmed in Bullskin accident

Emergency crews and state police investigate an accident at the intersection of Route 982 and Route 31, at the bottom of Three Mile Hill, Bullskin Township, on Monday, May 11, 2015. One person was killed and another suffered injuries of unknown severity, according to state police at Uniontown.
A Fayette County coroner was called to the scene of a crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of Route 982 and Route 31 at the bottom of Three Mile Hill, Bullskin, according to Fayette County 911.

State police at Uniontown confirmed just before 9 p.m. Monday there was a fatality reported at the accident scene. However, no other information was available.

At least one person was flown by emergency medical helicopter, according to Fayette County 911.

Jackie Mendoz of Mt. Pleasant said she saw a tow truck going down Three Mile Hill with its brakes smoking. She could smell the brakes, rubber and gasoline. She said she did not hear a crash.

Skid marks were visible on Route 982 in the area of the accident.

Val Van Norman, a clerk at Speedy Meedy's, said she did not know there was an accident until someone came in to call 911.

State police at the scene declined any comment, other than to say the location where the tow truck and at least one vehicle were located was a closed crime scene.

According to Fayette County 911, the call came in at 4:38 p.m. Bullskin Township Volunteer Fire Company, Medic 10 from Mt. Pleasant and the state police were dispatched. Other fire departments at the scene included Mt. Pleasant, Kecksburg and Connellsville Township.

Traffic was reduced to one alternating lane while emergency crews and state police worked the scene.
