A Fawn Township man with a lengthy criminal history that includes stealing an automatic teller machine with a stolen front-end loader was arrested again last night.

James H. "Junkyard" Anthony, 48, was arrested around 7 p.m. on charges of aggravated assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

West Deer Officer Brian Wikert said that, on Tuesday, Anthony was at a friend's house on Dawson Road in West Deer when an argument happened. Anthony's car was blocked in the driveway and, according to witnesses, he rammed another person's car with his own until it became stuck, Wikert said.

The occupant of the other car was not hurt, Wikert said.

Police arrested Anthony that night but he was released to Allegheny Valley Hospital after complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath, Wikert said. Officers served an arrest warrant on him again at his home Thursday night.

Anthony was at the Allegheny County Jail and was scheduled for arraignment early this morning.

In 1991, Anthony and another man took a front-end loader from the Buffalo Township municipal building and used it to steal a free-standing ATM from First Seneca Bank along Route 356. FBI agents said they used a blow torch to open the machine, burning some of the $16,000 in cash inside.

Anthony, who said they took the machine after running out of drinking money, was sentenced to more than two years in prison.

Anthony's criminal history includes charges for assaults, drugs, burglaries, and parole violations.

In 2007, Anthony was charged with attacking his 77-year-old father.

In December 2003, he was arrested after a chase through Fawn, Clinton and Buffalo townships that began after Anthony fled from police who saw him sitting in a known drug trafficking area along Howes Run Road.

In September 2003, he was charged with a series of burglaries in Butler County that occurred 1999. He has also been charged with burglaries in Allegheny Township, Fawn, Lower Burrell, drug charges in Harmar, and for setting a fire that destroyed the Rustic Inn bar in Fawn.

In 2001, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years in prison for receiving money, stamps, envelopes and other government property stolen during a 1995 post office burglary in Buffalo Township.

The post office burglary occurred days before Anthony was scheduled to begin serving a prison term after pleading guilty to stealing a tractor-trailer filled with windows and doors from its parking place outside of Kittanning in 1989 and selling the contents.
