A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Fayette City man police said was traveling with a young child and crystal meth.
David Francis Wray, 43, of Naomi Road, is accused of drug violations after a traffic stop 10:40 p.m. Thursday in Fayette City.
Fayette City police Chief William Gardner said he stopped Wray's GMC truck on Connellsville Street after noticing a left headlight was burned out. The truck had neither an inspection nor an emission sticker and Wray had no identification card, according to the criminal complaint. When Wray opened the vehicle's door as he was being questioned, Gardner smelled marijuana inside and noticed a young child sitting in the passenger seat. Wray told Gardner the child is his daughter, the complaint states.
Wray allegedly began making “fast motions,” and appeared nervous. During a pat-down search, Gardner allegedly found a metal can in Wray's coat pocket containing a rolled-up dollar bill, a razor, and a bag of “crystal,” according to the complaint.
Crystal meth is the common name for crystal methamphetamine, a strong and highly addictive illegal drug that affects the central nervous system.
Wray is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without inspection and a traffic violation for the headlight.
