Fayette couple accused of forgery

A Washington County couple is accused of forging an elderly Fayette County relative's identification information to secure a mortgage loan last year for $121,500.

Ernest E. Fulton, 63, and Myrna Fulton, 65, of 24 Abraham Drive, Daisytown, were arraigned this week on charges filed with Magisterial District Judge Robert W. Breakiron, of Bullskin Township. State police at Uniontown charged each with forgery, identity theft and two counts of criminal conspiracy.

The alleged victim is Fern O. Fulton, 84, of the Normalville section of Springfield Township. She is the mother of Ernest Fulton and the mother-in-law of Myrna Fulton.

Fern Fulton lives in Normalville with her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Tillie Fulton. Trooper James Pierce was notified of the alleged incident by Tillie Fulton.

Myrna Fulton told Pierce that she and her husband spoke with Fern Fulton about the loan several times while she was living in a personal care home last year, according to an affidavit of probable cause. She also said the couple needed the loan because their home is under foreclosure, according to the document.

Ernest and Myrna Fulton are free on unsecured bonds. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
