An Explorer Post is being reestablished at FEMS. The post had been active in the past years by Sandy Rank.
The post's new contact person is Mary Ann Cook EMT-Public Relations Department. "Part of my job is to go to the schools and speak about a variety of subjects from CPR/First Aid to explaining emergency medicine as a volunteer or full/part-time employment. Many of the students have expressed interest in EMS, but there wasn't an active post at that time. With some help from Mike Napolillo, Jeff Layton and Director of Operations Rick Adobato, we hope to get it up and running again. Plans include training in CPR and First Aid, visits to local fire departments, UPMC Health Center and 911 dispatching is planned."
The Explorers is a co-ed division of the Boy Scouts that experience different vocations. Ages are from 14 years old or those who have completed the eighth grade to 21 years old.
