Fayette man charged in child sex case
A Vanderbilt man who pleaded guilty last year in a Westmoreland County child indecent exposure case is now accused of assaulting a young girl in Fallowfield.
Jason Wesley Colbert, 36, of Flatwoods Road allegedly threatened to harm the girl's family if she told anyone about the alleged assaults, according to the criminal complaint filed Tuesday by state Trooper Thomas W. Hartley of the Belle Vernon Barracks.
In the complaint, Hartley said Washington County Children and Youth Services contacted him about the alleged assaults.
The girl said the incidents occurred from December 2011 through January 2012 at a Fallowfield residence, according to the complaint.
During a 2013 interview at A Child's Place at Mercy, an Allegheny County child advocacy center in Pittsburgh, the girl reportedly indicated Colbert watched and inappropriately touched her as she showered, the complaint states.
Colbert is charged with two counts of indecent assault and single counts of endangering the welfare of children and terroristic threats.
He was arraigned Tuesday in Charleroi by Magisterial District Judge Larry Hopkins and released on $25,000 unsecured bond. Colbert faces a preliminary hearing before Hopkins 9 a.m. Oct. 5.
Previous case
On Sept. 18 in the Westmoreland case, Judge Debra A. Pezze sentenced Colbert to 123 days to 23 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to one count of indecent exposure involving two girls.
He also pleaded guilty to a separate charge of indecent exposure and was sentenced to 123 days to 23 months in jail, with credit for time served. The sentences were to run concurrently.
Other charges, including rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault and terroristic threats, were dismissed as part of the negotiated guilty plea, according to court records.
At the time, Pezze barred Colbert from having unsupervised contact with minors.
State police in Greensburg claimed the incidents took place from 2006 through 2011.
The incidents involved one girl starting when she was 17 and another girl from age 9 through 11, according to court documents.
He was accused of threatening the older girl if she reported the incidents.
