Fayette man, 49, killed in head-on collision in South Union

A 49-year-old South Union man was killed in a July 7 crash in Fayette County.

State police said Richard W. Harris, of the McClellandtown neighborhood, was headed west on McClellandtown Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. on July 7, when he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming pickup truck head-on.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to Uniontown Hospital and Ruby Memorial Hospital with suspected minor injuries, state police said. An infant in a rear-facing car seat in that vehicle was not injured.

Harris was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, according to police reports.
