Erica Prosser School: Oakland Catholic Class: Junior Sport: Basketball Notable: Prosser, a Division I prospect, averaged 15.5 points per game in victories against Penn Hills on Dec. 27 and in the Daily News Shootout in Naples, Fla., against Jensen Beach, Fla. (Friday) and Notre Dame Academy, Va. (Saturday). Prosser has been a starter since the middle of her freshman year and has switched seamlessly from shooting guard to point guard this season. "She's running it as if she has been our point guard for the last three years," said Oakland Catholic coach Rich Irr. "She's stepped up her game and has taken on more of a leadership role this year." Victories against Jensen Beach, Florida's No. 1 ranked Class AAAA team, and Notre Dame Academy, No. 1 in Virginia's Independent league, have prepared Oakland Catholic for WPIAL play. "I thinks it's great for us playing these really good teams," said Prosser. "It'll help us play up to our potential." To prepare for the workload of the upcoming season, Prosser worked out five days a week either running or lifting weights. In addition to the weights, Prosser has been hitting the books as well. She maintains a 4.5 grade-point average and is enrolled mainly in Honors courses. Prosser receives nearly 20 recruiting letters a day and has even had to add an extra mailbox at home, but she still remains focused on the task at hand. "I don't have any main interest right now," said Prosser. "Our goals are to win the section, WPIAL and state championships."
