One inbound lane of Fifth Avenue between Oakland and Downtown is scheduled to close Monday night through October.

PennDOT plans to shut down the lane while workers build a new ramp connecting Fifth Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies. The $29 million project includes building the ramp, replacing the boulevard bridge and ramps. Work is scheduled to last two years.

The closed inbound lane will be between Craft Avenue and the Birmingham Bridge. It will close at 7 p.m.

The Fifth Avenue bus lane will be blocked off in this area. Buses will use the center traffic lane.

Also closed is a left lane on Forbes Avenue from Moultrie Street to the Parkway East off-ramp and a left inbound Boulevard lane near the bridge over Forbes.

The bridge will not be replaced until 2008.
