B.U.S. 8: Six local playwrights embarked on a 90-minute bus ride, then had 12 hours in which to write a 10-minute play inspired by the journey. The experience was the subject of celebration during Bricolage Urban Scrawl (B.U.S.) 8. AGH GALA: Fly Me to the Moon was the theme of the Allegheny General Hospital Auxiliary gala on April 6. Held at the Westin Convention Center hotel, the event was co-chaired by Gabrielle and Douglas Blythe and Dr. Mark and Robin Trombetta. Among the crowd was special guest of honor Brandon Marinacci, pictured here with his wife, Valerie, and Auxiliary prexy Andrea Joubert. Marinacci, who suffered from epilepsy since childhood, was celebrating six years of being seizure-free since undergoing a surgical procedure that removed part of his brain. “They gave me my life back,” he said.

‘SHAKE YOUR BOOTIES’: Former Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith and his wife, Jaimie, were honored April 6 for their dedication to children in the community. The “Shake Your Booties” event for the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and Lemieux Family Center was held in the East Club Lounge of Heinz Field and drew more than 400 guests. Co-chairs were Ranny Ferguson and Julie Kline.

Pittsburgh Proud Gala

The Pittsburgh Proud Gala, hosted by the Allegheny County Medical Society at the Omni William Penn, benefited the ACMS Foundation Medical, Nursing and Healthcare Student Scholarship Funds.
