FNB Corp., a multi-bank holding company, has moved its headquarters from Mercer County to Florida, it said Tuesday. ‘It’s primarily because of the growth opportunities here in Florida,’ said spokesman Clay Cone from the corporation’s new home base in Naples. Based in Hermitage, FNB for years has operated with one foot in the rust belt and one in the sun belt. The company operates 43 offices of Reeves Bank and First National Bank of Pennsylvania that stretch from Beaver County north to Erie County, as well as 12 bank offices in Ohio. With about $3.9 billion in total assets, FNB also has 55 bank branches in Florida. About 15 people already have transferred from Hermitage to Florida, said Cone. The headquarters move will not lead to any layoffs among FNB’s roughly 1,800 workers. Nor will it shutter the former Hermitage headquarters because it doubles as a bank branch, which remains open, he said. The corporation’s bank headquarters in their respective markets will stay put, the company said in a statement. ‘By relocating to southwest Florida, the company will be closer to the majority of customers served by its banking and other financial services subsidiaries,’ said Chief Executive Gary Tice. The corporation’s board approved the move last month. Shareholders will vote on the relocation at their annual meeting on April 23 in Naples. FNB expanded to Florida with five community-bank acquisitions in 1997. The company also operates 44 insurance, trust and consumer-finance offices in five states.
