The Fayette County Community Action Agency food bank is working with Fayette County schools on community food drives.
“The goal of the School Spirit Food Drives is to increase hunger awareness within the community and obtain much-needed nonperishable canned food items for the Food Bank to distribute to Fayette County residents in need,” said Jennifer Canada, project manager.
The School Spirit Food Drives will be held for one week at the participating schools. Students will bring nonperishable food items to the schools and leave them in an area designated by the school principals.
Additional food will be collected at Uniontown, Laurel Highlands, Brownsville, Connellsville and Geibel high school football games.
Family members and friends are encouraged to bring nonperishable items to the game. Food Bank representatives will collect these items.
Food will be collected Monday-Friday at Brownsville School District including the Friday football game; Monday-Friday at Albert Gallatin School District; Monday-Saturday at Geibel Catholic High School, including the Saturday football game; Monday-Saturday at Holy Rosary School; Oct. 6-10 at Connellsville Area High School, including the Oct.10 football game; Oct. 20-24 at Laurel Highlands High School District, including at Oct. 24 football game.
