KITTANNING -- Bus service will be discontinued to Ford City and Ford Cliff starting on Feb. 1 if the two communities do not continue a contract to support Town And County Transit.

The TACT board met Wednesday and voted unanimously to discontinue bus service to the communities if Ford City does not agree pay an annual $6,800 and Ford Cliff, its $900 share. TACT board members present were Tom Close of Kittanning borough council; Chuck Nicely, Applewold; Howard Jack, Manor Township; and Henry Mores, West Kittanning.

TACT general manager Michael Johnston said TACT has not received communication from representatives of either community, and neither sent a representative to the meeting.

No mention was made of Kittanning borough council's suggestion that the transit company consider switching to smaller transportation units.

The TACT board will meet again at 4 p.m. Jan. 14. The meetings are open to the public.
