SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — Seton Hall forward Herb Pope is undergoing tests at a hospital after collapsing during a workout at the school.

The university confirmed that the Aliquippa graduate collapsed late Wednesday afternoon while working out for the upcoming NBA Draft, which he has entered.

The university didn't release information about Pope's condition Thursday.

After the incident, Seton Hall would only say a student-athlete fell ill and was taken to a hospital. Assistant athletic director Matt Sweeney cited privacy laws in not identifying Pope or commenting on his condition Wednesday.

Pope, who averaged 11.5 points and led the Big East Conference by averaging 10.7 rebounds, declared for the draft shortly after the season ended in March. But he hasn't hired an agent.

He has to withdraw his name from the draft by June 14 if he wants to return to school and play for new coach Kevin Willard.

Pope's season ended horribly.

He was ejected in Seton Hall's NIT loss to Texas Tech for twice punching Darko Cohadarevic below the waist. Pope maintained that the Red Raiders player elbowed him in the head before he retaliated.

Pope transferred to Seton Hall from New Mexico State. Last season was his first with the Pirates.
