Former BNY Mellon employee sentenced for possessing child pornography

An Allegheny County judge on Wednesday sentenced a former BNY Mellon employee to serve seven years on probation after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.

Common Pleas Judge Jill E. Rangos also ordered Duane Amity, 45, of Monroeville to register as a sex offender for 15 years. Amity was vice president of computer network security for PNC. BNY Mellon spokesman Ron Gruendl said Amity has not been an employee there since late April but he declined to elaborate. Amity couldn't be reached for comment. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.

Police found more than 3,000 files they considered to be pornographic on Amity' home computer, according to a criminal complaint.

Amity, a married father of two, initially denied ever opening the files, but later told police he did.
