Former KDKA anchorwoman Patti Burns, who for years shared the anchor slot with her father, the late Bill Burns, has been diagnosed with cancer.

Burns, the chief executive officer for Burns Communications, a marketing and media training firm, was diagnosed in April after she found a lump above her collarbone. She had the malignant lymph node removed and is currently being treated at UPMC Shadyside.

Burns, who lives in Shadyside, also is being treated at the hospital's Center for Complementary Medicine, which is using techniques such as acupuncture to strengthen her immune system.

Burns, who was married to attorney Charles Cohen in May, says she is leading a normal life.
