William Trueheart, former president and CEO of The Pittsburgh Foundation, has been hired as CEO of an initiative to help students at community colleges across the nation.

Trueheart will head Achieving the Dream: Community Colleges Count, a Chapel Hill, N.C.-based campaign involving 100 schools in 22 states. It was launched by the Indiananpolis-based Lumina Foundation and seven national partners five years ago to encourage community colleges to use data to identify problems that prevent students from succeeding.

Trueheart, 67, retired from the foundation in 2007. He previously served as president and CEO of Reading is Fundamental and president of the former Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I.
