A former oilfield roughneck was executed Thursday in Texas for the abduction and murder of a 21-year-old college student eight years ago.

Robert Brice Morrow, 47, was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m. after receiving a lethal injection for killing Lisa Allison, who was in Liberty visiting her parents on spring break.

In his final statement, Morrow apologized to the parents of the victim who were witnesses.

"I would like to tell you that I am responsible, and I am sorry for what I did and the pain I caused you all," he said, before thanking his family for their support.

Lisa Allison had taken her father's car to a nearby car wash when she was abducted. Her body was found in the Trinity River the day after her disappearance. She had been beaten and her throat slashed.

Morrow was the 20th convicted killer executed this year in Texas.
