An Allegheny County jury today convicted a Forward man of killing his step-grandfather.
Timothy Large, 31, was convicted of first-degree murder, receiving stolen property, theft, access device fraud and abuse of a corpse. The jury acquitted Large of burglary.
Large hit Vernon Hayden Sr., 71, in the head with a hammer and then shot him twice with a .22-caliber rifle in Hayden’s Elizabeth home early Dec. 8, 2007 after the two got into a fight.
Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning is scheduled to sentence Large on May 27.
