Four treated after Route 780 crash in Washington Tonwnship

Four people are being treated for injuries they suffered early Friday in a one-car crash along Route 780.

Police said Dustin Knowles, 21, of Blueberry Lane, Washington Township, was driving a Toyota Supra east when for an unknown reason, the car went off the side of the road and skidded in loose gravel, Upper Burrell police said.

"Patrolman Vince Sekanick was on routine patrol when he saw the white car on its side," Chief Ken Pate said.

Three people got out of the car, but firefighters had to extricate the fourth passenger, Brandon Sofaly, 21, of King Arthur Drive, Washington Township, Pate said.

The officer saw passenger Stacey Derry, 22, of Kathy Lynn Drive, Plum, lying on the grass. Knowles and passenger John Tholl, 20, of Route 819, Saltsburg, were walking around, Pate said.

Sofaly and Derry were flown to UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, where Sofaly was in fair condition and Derry was in good condition yesterday. Knowles was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, where he was in fair condition. Tholl was taken to a hospital, but his condition wasn't available.
