Fox Chapel falls on last play of game

The means to a sad ending was the same as it was a year ago -- down to the last play of the game -- when Woodland Hills defeated Fox Chapel, 41-36, on Friday night in a Quad East game at the Wolvarena.

Woodland Hills (3-4, 2-1) scored the winning touchdown when Cameron Contreras caught a 38-yard pass from John Yezovich with no time left on the clock.

Fox Chapel lost to Woodland Hills last season, 16-10, again on the last play of the game.

Fox Chapel, No. 9 in the Trib Total Media rankings, fell to 4-3, 2-1 in the Quad East, and lost its share of first place to Penn Hills, which beat Kiski Area, 37-12.

Fox Chapel, Central Catholic and Woodland Hills are tied for second place.

Before the final heroics by Yezovich and Contreras, Fox Chapel couldn't contain Woodland Hills running back Dom Timbers, who rushed for 171 yards and five touchdowns on 27 carries. He scored from the 1 (twice), 46, 17 and 15.

Cameron Thompkins added 111 yards rushing for Woodland Hills. Yezovich finished with 112 yards passing.

Fox Chapel was led by Jullian Salerno's 229 yards passing and Lamont White's 138 yards rushing. Salerno completed 23 of 41 passes and four touchdowns -- 24 and 15 yards to Jayce Duquette, 6 yards to Cody Kirsch and 47 to White.

White also scored on a 59-yard run.
