Fox Chapel Area hosting coat, toy drives at basketball games
Fox Chapel Area School District residents have two chances to spread holiday cheer at upcoming high school basketball games.
School counselors will sponsor a coat drive on Dec. 11 where people are encouraged to bring a new or gently used coat of any size to the boys’ and girls’ basketball games. Students who bring a coat to donate will get free admission to the games, both against Woodland Hills. The girls’ game begins at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game is at 7:30 p.m.
Coats will be distributed within the district to students in need. Any remaining coats will be donated to local food pantries and other organizations serving the Fox Chapel area community.
On Dec. 14, the high school cheerleading squad will host its fourth annual toy drive as part of the boys’ and girls’ home basketball games. The girls’ game begins at 6 p.m. against Butler, followed by the boys’ at 7:30 p.m. against Seneca Valley.
Cheerleaders will deliver the toys Dec. 15 to The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center. The sites include an adoption facility, a pediatric specialty hospital and a pediatric extended care center.
All gifts should be new, unwrapped and purchased for children up to 18 years old.
Anyone unable to donate at the game can drop off their gifts at the high school athletic office from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 10-14.
