The Fox & Hound Sports Tavern in Ross has closed.
The restaurant, part of a national chain based in Wichita, Kan., was nearing the end of its lease at The Block Northway — once known as Northway Mall — and didn't seek to renew it, Kevin J. Fallon, senior vice president of LRC Realty, said Monday. LRC owns and manages the mall.
A restaurant employee who declined to give his name said workers were informed Sunday that it was the last day of business. Phone numbers provided for corporate offices were not accepting messages or were busy Monday.
The mall is in the midst of a major reconstruction slated for completion this fall. Fallon said he didn't think the renovation work was affecting the restaurant's business.
“People who knew where it (Fox & Hound) was and wanted to go there could get into the mall without any problem, so I don't think that was an issue,” he said.
The restaurant and several other businesses including PetSmart and Marshall's have remained open during the renovations. Ulta Beauty relocated to the mall in May from another site along McKnight Road.
Fallon said he would like to attract at least two restaurants for the upper level of the mall, which would allow for outdoor dining overlooking McKnight Road.
