Franklin Regional advances in hockey playoffs

Jared Yesko scored two goals to lead Franklin Regional to a 5-2 victory against Moon on Tuesday night in a PIHL Class AA quarterfinal at Center Ice in Delmont.

Franklin Regional's Eugene Mack, Steve Shirk and Ryan Kramer added one goal each.

Pine-Richland 5, Hampton 1

Led by Philip Trombetta'a four goals, Pine Richland (21-1-1) moved past Hampton (13-10-1) in the PIHL Class AA quarterfinals at the Ice Connection in Valencia. Trombetta had one goal in the second period and three in the third. The final goal came from a tip in by Matt Lohman.

Pine Richland moves on to face West Allegheny in the semifinal Tuesday at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.

Thomas Jefferson 4, Montour 2

Anchored by a strong performance by goalie Spencer Neel, Thomas Jefferson (16-5-2) defeated Montour (13-8-3) in the PIHL Class AA quarterfinal at the Ice Garden in Rostraver. Thomas Jefferson's goals occurred in the second period, and Neel made 26 saves in the win.

North Allegheny 4, Central Catholic 1

Josh Herbert scored two goals to lead No. 3 seed North Allegheny (17-4-1) to a victory against No. 6 Central Catholic (16-7-0) in the Class AAA quarterfinals at Bladerunners in Warrendale. North Allegheny goalie Max Richards recorded 20 saves.

North Allegheny will advance to the semifinal round next Wednesday at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.

Bishop McCort 5, Serra Catholic 3

Dane Donokof scored two goals to lead Bishop McCort (15-5-1) past Serra Catholic (12-6-3) in the PIHL Class A quarterfinals at the Johnstown War Memorial. Bishop McCort goalie Dan Mock recorded 27 saves.
