A Fredericktown man who attempted to solicit sex from an undercover police officer who was posing as a 15-year-old girl will serve probation and must register as a sex offender.
Donald Edward Duricic, 29, pleaded guilty in January to unlawful contact with a minor for the purpose of sexual acts and one count of unlawful contact with a minor for the purpose of disseminating explicit materials.
On Monday, Judge Steve Leskinen sentenced Duricic to two years of probation, with six months under house arrest with electronic monitoring. The judge ordered Duricic to register with police as a sex offender biannually for 25 years.
Southwest Regional Police said in an affidavit that Duricic placed an ad in the “casual encounters” section of the craigslist website titled “19 and younger.” He stated he “loved younger women,” adding, “pick you up if need be.”
A Southwest Regional Police officer posing as a teenager responded to the ad via email. Duricic asked for the sender's age, indicated he wanted to have sex with a girl under 18 and agreed to a meeting at Belle Vernon Park, police said.
Duricic was arrested at the park when he met with a female officer who Southwest Regional Chief John Hartman said “dressed down to play the role of a 15-year-old.”
