The Wesley Church Health Center, 410 S. Pittsburgh St., will hold a free flu shot clinic as part of its health fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The health fair celebrates Wesley's 15th anniversary. The Wesley Church Health Center is the area's only free primary care clinic.
More than 20 health-related services will set up booths in the South Pittsburgh Street lot adjacent to the center to answer questions, provide brochures or offer no-cost services to those taking part in the fair.
Face painting, balloon art and physical activities along with child fingerprinting services by the Connellsville police will be offered to the public at no charge. Free blood pressure screening and tours of the center will be available with staff in attendance to answer questions about center services.
In case of inclement weather, the festivities will be held in the Wesley United Methodist Church social hall.

plans hoagie sale
Morrell Volunteer Fire Department will sell hoagies on Saturday to raise funds to help pay for paving its over 100-vehicle parking lot. The lot will have parking spaces painted and lighting added. J&J Paving of Dunbar is doing the work.

'Community Day
on the Expressway'
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will hold a "Community Day on the Expressway" event Oct. 11 to offer the general public a preview of Phase 1 of the Mon/Fayette Expressway Uniontown-to-Brownsville Area Project prior to its scheduled opening later in the fall.
In partnership with the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, Steps to a Healthier Fayette County, the National Road Heritage Corridor and its construction manager TCMS-Maguire, the PTC invites people to "Step Stride Glide Ride" the new roadway before it opens to traffic.
Community Day will be held on the new mainline in the vicinity of the Searights Crossroads interchange in Menallen Township, Fayette County. Citizens are welcome to stroll or bicycle the new roadway or take a bus tour. The event also will include food vendors, informational booths and a children's area featuring Airheads balloon art and the Rainbow Express trackless train.
Steps to a Healthier Fayette County will sponsor a Family Fun Walk beginning at 9 a.m. Visit at www.stepstoahealthierfayettecounty.org to pre-register and for more information.
A "Modes of Transportation" parade at 10 a.m. will kick off the rest of the day's events. The Chris Higbee Project will perform at 1 p.m. Other music will be provided by DJ Mark Rafail. Activities will close at 5 p.m.

State police offer
child safety seat check
State police will offer free child passenger safety seat checks throughout Pennsylvania as part of the department's participation in National Child Passenger Safety week Sept. 21 to 27.
A local car seat check will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday in the parking garage area of Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg. For information on other locations of the checks, call any state police station or visit at www.psp.state.pa.us.
