Acquired OF Sean Danielson from St. Louis to complete the trade that sent RHP Joel Pineiro to the Cardinals on July 31. Announed C Kevin Cash declined an outright assignment and elected to become a free agent.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS—Promoted Louie Medina special assistant to the general manager/player personnel and Donnie Williams to senior advisor to the general manager. Claimed RHP Colby Lewis off waivers from Oakland.

NEW YORK YANKEES—Exercised their 2008 option on OF Bobby Abreu.

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS—Announced RHP Shawn Camp and INF Jorge Velandia have declined outright assignments and elected to become free agents.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS—Agreed to terms with OF Matt Stairs on a two-year contract.
