Game lands

The state of Pennsylvania has acquired nearly 6,700 acres in the Moniteau School District. That has resulted in the devastation of our tax base, and our children now receive the fewest educational opportunities in Butler County while our taxpayers pay some of the highest property taxes.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is planning to keep bikes, horses and hikers off most public game lands. I feel that would be insanity on their part. Fees from hunting licenses are not the only money that buys these lands. Taxes on sporting equipment and ammunition also fund game lands.

No property tax is paid on the game lands. Farmers were dragged from their land as the state acquired these properties. And I'm really angry that the Game Commission told the horseback riders, bikers and hikers who live in the Moniteau School District (who pay higher property taxes because of all the game lands located there) that they can't use the public game lands.
