Gander Mountain sets April 28 grand opening in Monroeville Plaza
The new Gander Mountain store in Monroeville will hold a grand opening April 28 and continue the celebration into the following weekend with music, prizes and children's events.
The store, located at 4680 Old William Penn Highway in the Monroeville Plaza shopping center, will offer hunting and fishing supplies, camping gear, guns, ammo and clothing.
The ribbon-cutting will be held at 9:45 a.m. April 28, with doors opening for the public at 10.
Guest appearances from country music artist Nate Hosie, Pittsburgh Steelers Sammie Coates and Cam Heyward and television personality Travis “T-Bone” Turner will occur during the store's grand-opening weekend.
Kids will be able to paint their own fishing lures, build their own wildlife calls and learn how to cast a fishing rod. For a schedule of events, visit gandermountain.com/grandopenings.
A spokesman for Gander Mountain said the store will bring up to 70 part-time and full-time jobs to the area.
The outdoor specialty store is going into the former Hills and Roomful Express building that has been vacant for about six years.
