Gay is a choice
This is in response to the various responses to Rudy Gagliardi's Jan. 5 letter “Gay marriage.”
If homosexuality is caused by genetics, then upon which chromosome does this “gay gene” reside? There is absolutely no scientific or biological evidence that homosexuality is genetically inherited. Homosexuality is an acquired trait. It's not by nature, but by nurture.
If God made some individuals this way, then is pedophilia also a genetic inheritance? Using this “logic,” then Jerry Sandusky's behavior can be excused. Sandusky and his lawyers should have copped a plea of inherited genetic innocence. Had they tried that, they would have been laughed out of the courtroom.
If this is genetics and God made gays that way, then why is Homo sapiens the only species in the animal kingdom to exhibit this behavior? Animals innately know this behavior is perversion. The difference is that humans were given a cerebral cortex to choose — the key word is choose — between behaviors that are good and evil.
The claims that homosexuality is genetic or that God made gays is just liberals' way of avoiding individual responsibility for chosen behavior.
