Anne Christopher, the oldest woman in Georgia, has turned 111.

Christopher, the oldest documented Georgian, celebrated her birthday in March at the Winthrop West senior living center in Rome, Ga., where she lives, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Using census records, the Gerontology Research Group validated Christopher as one of 62 "Supercentenarians" -- persons 110 and older -- in the world. The GRG lists Christopher as the 37th-oldest person on the planet and the 14th-oldest American.

"I don't know," said Christopher when asked to explain her longevity. "I wonder why. I haven't done anything special. Am I the oldest (Georgian)• We don't know why I'm living so long, do we?"

Life is good, she said, but she figures the afterlife will be even better.

"She once told me heaven is going to be a glorious place," her granddaughter Harriett Brock told the newspaper, "because there are so many people there she knew."
