The acquisition by Giant Eagle of five former Shell gasoline service stations, primarily in the South Hills area, and their conversions to GetGo stations will allow supermarket shoppers near those stations to receive a discounts on their fuel purchases. Three of the stations will be converted to the GetGo brand by Dec. 13, while the remaining two will be changed "once we have received all the necessary zoning approvals," said Daniel Pastor, Giant Eagle vice president of fuels and convenience. SFM Energy Inc. received in excess of $1 million for the stations, according to deeds filed in both Allegheny and Butler Counties. The five stations will bring the number of GetGo locations to 72, with 40 located in Western Pennsylvania. Additional acquisitions are planned throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio. The three opening this month are at 14 Fort Crouch Road, servicing the Bethel Park, Village Square and Bridgeville Giant Eagles; 1636 Cochran Run Road, serving Green Tree and Parkway Center Mall Giant Eagles; and Rt. 19, Dutilh Road, Cranberry, servicing Cranberry Mall Giant Eagle. The two remaining locations are at 5281 Library Rd., Bethel Park, to service Bethel Park and Village Square; and 1540 Washington Rd., serving Green Tree and Sleepy Hollow. All sites are expected to include a convenience store. A 10-cents-a-gallon discount is offered to customers with sales tapes from the participating Giant Eagle that has $50 or more in sales. There is a 30-gallon limit per car.
