A 10-year-old boy in Scotland was killed when a giant snowball he and his friends made rolled down a hill and crushed him, The Times of London said Monday.

Scotland and much of England have experienced unusually high amounts of snowfall during the past week, and creating giant snowballs is popular with children across the Aberdeenshire region, the Daily Record newspaper said.

The newspaper said Peter Strang was crushed to death, and since there were no suspicious circumstances, a police spokesman said there would be no investigation into the "tragic accident."
