Network management firm Cheetah Technologies L.P. of Green Tree is buying the assets of Symmetricom Inc.'s video Quality of Experience business for $2.25 million. The sale of the time and frequency technology business is expected to close in mid-March, subject to conditions. Cheetah will hire the majority of the current QoE team under the deal. Symmetricom is based in San Francisco. Cheetah is owned by Pittsburgh-based investment firms The Hawthorne Group and Rosetta Capital. Cheetah bought a cable status monitoring product line last year from Harmar-based Tollgrade Communications Inc. for $3.15 million.
