Gulf Oil LP, a subsidiary of Massachusetts-based Cumberland Farms Inc., acquired from Chevron Corp. all rights, title and interest to the Gulf brand throughout the United States and its territories.

With the purchase, Gulf now can market Gulf brand gasoline and other petroleum products outside the 11-state Northeast region, including Pennsylvania, where it's operated for more than 20 years.

Gulf Oil LP currently distributes gasoline to 38 Western Pennsylvania stations. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, said Cumberland Farms' spokesman Robert Minicucci.
