It`s another encore for Marvin Hamlisch with the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops. He`ll be back for three more seasons as principal pops conductor because his contract has been extended through the 2014-15 season.

'We have been fortunate to have Marvin as our principal pops conductor for 17 seasons. His fondness for this city and our orchestra is undeniable, and we know our musicians and audiences eagerly look forward to Marvin`s appearances in Pittsburgh,' symphony president James A. Wilkinson said in a prepared statement.

Hamlisch has won three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony and three Golden Globe awards for his work as a musical and film composer.

He was music director and arranger in 1994 for Barbra Streisand`s celebrated concert tours and television special. Hamlisch is currently also principal pops conductor of the Milwaukee, Dallas, Seattle and Denver Symphonies, and the Pasadena Symphony and Pops in California.
