Harnack, Koenig elected to board

The Association for Iron and Steel Technology Foundation board of trustees elected Frederick T. Harnack and George J. Koenig to the board. Harnack is general manager of research for U.S. Steel Research and Technology Center. Koenig is president of Berry Metal Co. He has 30 years of steel industry experience.

Legal

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC elected Stephen R. Delinsky chairman of its board of directors and John E. Hall a member of the board. Delinsky practices in the firm's Boston office and concentrates his practice in the field of white-collar criminal defense representation. Hall is chair of the firm's product liability department. He concentrates his practice in the area of product liability defense and business litigation.

Education

The Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children board of trustees elected Richard D. Rose and Doris Carson Williams to three-year terms. Rose is a shareholder with Buchanan Ingersoll and a member of the firm's corporate finance group and board of directors. Williams is president of the African American Chamber of Commerce.

Health care

  • Vincentian Collaborative Services named Tom Lowden administrator of Vincentian de Marillac in the Stanton Heights area and Carolyn Hall assistant administrator of Vincentian Home. Lowden has 10 years of personal care and health care industry experience. Hall has 27 years of health care experience in Pennsylvania.

  • Dr. Ronald N. Roth was named Pennsylvania's Emergency Medical Service Physician of the Year by the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council. He is an emergency medical physician, associate professor of the department of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, chief of the department's division of EMS and medical director of the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety. The award honors members who have made significant contributions to the field of emergency medicine.

  • Christie Cawley Knott joined Family House as executive director. Previously, she was director of community development for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.

  • Jennifer Stratakis joined Providence Point as a marketing associate. She supports marketing activities and assists the team of marketing counselors who educate local seniors on the benefits of the retirement community and the advantages of Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Previously, Stratakis was activities supervisor and concierge with The Masonic Village at Sewickley, coordinator of special events and auxiliaries at Heritage Valley Health System and division director and special events specialist for the American Heart Association, Pittsburgh.

  • The Doubletree Hotel Pittsburgh, Airport, Moon, named Carol Ifft general manager. She has 10 years of hospitality experience. Previously, Ifft was director of sales for Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh, Southpointe, Canonsburg.

  • Tudi Mechanical Systems named Carolee Corbett to their accounting team. She has three years of corporate accounting and purchasing experience.

  • Joe Ball was named manager of the Wal-Mart store in Bethel Park. He has been with the company since 1987, working as assistant manager in West Memphis, Ark., co-manager in Mentor, Ohio, and store manager in Monaca, Greensburg and West Mifflin. Ball has 25 years of retail experience.

  • Christopher Michaels joined Church Restoration Group to assist with design review. He conducts computer-aided drafting, assists project managers with conditions surveys and work proposals and serves as a liaison between the client and project design team. Michaels also is an adjunct professor of design at La Roche College.

  • Mary Koveleskie Ortegon was elected to the board of directors for Trickle Up. A Greensburg native, she is a derivatives risk management advisor based in New York City. Ortegon has 20 years of securities industry experience in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Mexico and Zurich.

  • KMA Design named John Chaykowsky a senior graphic designer. He is responsible for overseeing graphic standards for interior and exterior signage. Chaykowsky joined the firm in 2004.

  • Henderson Brothers acquired the John R. Couy Insurance Agencies. Couy agency customers will now have access to a broader range of products and services, including health insurance, risk management, loss control consulting and a dedicated claims unit. Couy's services unit will also be transferred to Henderson Brother's Fort Duquesne Boulevard office.

    Awards

  • Bill Penberthy received the Triangle Service Award at the Triangle Photographers Association convention. He operates a studio in Zelienople and specializes in high school seniors, families and children. Penberthy also has served as president, board member, photographic instructor and newsletter editor for the Triangle Photographers Association. The award is presented for "Meritorious Contributions to Professional Photography."

  • Hal D. Coffey was named a 2005 Community Volunteer Honoree by the United Jewish Federation. He is an associate in the business transactions practice group of Grogan Graffam, P.C. Coffey also is chairman of the Keystone Mountain Region Commission B'nai B'rith Youth Organization.

  • Andrew Blanc received the Engineers Service Award at the Western Pennsylvania Water Pollution Control Association's 36th Annual Awards Ceremony. Blanc is a project manager for Gateway Engineers, Inc. The award is presented to a professional engineer who has served the association for a minimum of five years and has contributed educational operating guidance to its members.

    Speakers

    Michael J. Healey , James A. Prozzi and Michael D. McDowell were members of a panel speaking on "Significant Recent Court Decisions Reviewing Labor and Employment Arbitration Awards" at the Employment Law Institute West 2005 seminar. Healey works with Healey Hornack, PC; Prozzi with Jackson Lewis LLP; and McDowell is an arbitrator and mediator, all with offices in Pittsburgh.
