Hospital, foundation expand to voucher program The ACMH Foundation has received an $8,000 grant from the Margaret Patton for Charities Foundation that enables eligible recipients an opportunity to obtain $10 worth of fresh fruits and vegetables. The voucher program expands on the HEALTHY Armstrong (Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles — Together Helping Youth) concept, a countywide wellness initiative with partners including Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and its foundation, Children’s Community Pediatrics-Armstrong, Armstrong School District, UPMC Health Plan and Armstrong County. The goal of HEALTHY Armstrong is to increase wellness by providing nutrition education and fitness programs to schools and communities in Armstrong County. The fruit and vegetable vouchers are being distributed through the Hospital’s Rural Health Centers and obstetrical offices. The Rural Health Centers include Leechburg Primary Care, Elderton Primary Care and South Bethlehem Primary Care. The obstetrical offices include the offices of Drs. Maureen Russell, Steven Paterno, Jeffrey David, Craig Herring and Yanouchka Narcisse. The primary targets for the vouchers are families with children and obstetrical patients. Each office has a list of eligibility requirements. For information, contact Patricia Shiring of ACMH Foundation at 724-543-8850 or shiringp@acmh.org.
