The H.J. Heinz Co. said today it's providing $350,000 in cash and in-kind services toward the relief and recovery efforts ongoing in China following Monday's devastating earthquake.

Heinz operates a factory in Chengdu, the capital of China's Sichuan Province, the site of the earthquake. The factory produces frozen appetizers, dim sum and desserts under the Long Fong brand.

Heinz is donating $100,000 in cash from the Heinz Foundation, and $250,000 in cash and in-kind assistance from Heinz UFE.

Long Fond Chairman Hector Yeh told Heinz there appears to be no damage to the Chengdu factory, although production won't restart until the danger of quake aftershocks has passed and the plant has been found 100 percent safe. All employees will continue to receive their salaries. Total Heinz employment in China is 4,500.
