Connellsville -- with the help of a group of dedicated volunteers -- is gearing up for its 200th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2006.

But to make the celebration a success, the entire community must join in the effort. Judy Keller is busy putting the finishing touches on an upcoming fund-raiser designed to interest area golfers. And Carol Lynn is planning a variety of events for the actual bicentennial celebration itself.

The planners need your help.

Keller needs area businesses to make sure the golf outing is a success.

Area entrepreneurs can help in the effort by sponsoring tees and donating prizes. More so, they -- and and their friends -- can play in the event.

However, the effort requires help of more than just businessmen and women -- who always seem to come forward to support community initiatives.

Every resident should become involved. The celebration will mark an important milestone for a city with a rich history that features noted

American pioneers and key contributors to both the Whiskey Rebellion and the Industrial Revolution.

The bicentennial year will be a time for Connellsville to shine. Become a part of history. Volunteer your time and participate in the celebration.
