There will be a new PIAA Class AAA boys soccer champion.

WPIAL runner-up Upper St. Clair (19-2-1), which has won the past two state titles, was ousted 2-0 by District 3 runner-up Lower Dauphin (16-5-1) in the first round of the state tournament Tuesday night.

Nick Sincavage scored twice for Lower Dauphin.

The Panthers played in the PIAA championship game the past three seasons, winning in 2012 and 2013.

Central Catholic 2, Erie Cathedral Prep 0 — Ryan Sproule and Jarrod McDowell scored as Central Catholic (21-2) earned a PIAA Class AAA first-round victory at Veterans Stadium in Erie. Anthony Tirone earned the shutout with two saves. The Vikings will face Peters Township in the quarterfinals Saturday at a time and site to be determined.

Peters Township 4, State College 0 — Nicco Mastrangelo scored two goals and Rylen Faloni and Mario Mastrangelo added goals to lead WPIAL champion Peters Township to a PIAA Class AAA first-round win at Elizabeth Forward.

South Fayette 1, Warren 0 (OT) — Zach Lutz scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway just two minutes into overtime to secure the Lions (18-4-1) a PIAA Class AA opening-round win at Harbor Creek. Zack Ali recorded the assist and keeper Andrew Pine made five saves to preserve the shutout.

South Park 2, Quaker Valley 0 — Christian Payne and Brandon Walbert scored to lead WPIAL champion South Park (23-0) to a PIAA Class AA first-round win at North Allegheny.

West Allegheny 3, Bradford 2 — At DuBois, Christian Aromondo scored three times to lead WPIAL runner-up West Allegheny (18-4-1) to a PIAA Class AA first-round win. West Allegheny will face South Fayette in the quarterfinals.

Sewickley Academy 3, North East 1 — Tom Lasorda scored twice, and Mike Napoleane added a late score to give Sewickley Academy (17-2-2) a PIAA Class A first-round victory at Harbor Creek.

Vincentian 1, Karns City 0 — Nate Hodder scored the only goal of the game to lead Vincentian (19-3-1) to a PIAA Class A first-round playoff victory at Clarion University. Hodder’s blast to the top right corner of the net was assisted on by Alex Sharpe. Keeper Cam Fuller made five saves for the Royals, who will play Sewickley Academy on Saturday.

Winchester Thurston 6, Richland 0 — Adrian Bayemi had three goals and Van Briessen had two, as WPIAL champion Winchester Thurston (20-0-1) earned a PIAA Class A first-round win at Hampton. The Bears will play District 3’s Lancaster Country Day in the quarterfinals.

Girls soccer

Canon-McMillan 7, State College 0 — Sabrina Bryan scored four goals to lead WPIAL runner-up Canon-McMillan (17-4-1) to a PIAA Class AAA first-round win at Bald Eagle Area. The Lady Macs will play Spring-Ford in the quarterfinals.

Mars 5, Clearfield 0 — Junior Dillon Wright and sophomore Kaitlyn McKenzie each netted two goals to lead the Planets (19-4) to a PIAA Class AA first-round victory. Sabrina Edwards added a goal, and goalie Sammy Patik made three saves for Mars, which will face District 10 champ Villa Maria on Saturday.

Montour 3, Hickory 1 — Victoria Kocsuta found the back of the net three times for Montour (21-2) in its PIAA Class AA opening-round win at Hampton. Keeper Aryana Jones recorded seven saves in the victory for the Spartans.

Villa Maria 2, South Park 1 — Morgan Putnam scored with 3:31 left to give District 10 champion Villa Maria a first-round win over South Park (18-2-2) in a PIAA Class AA first-round game at Veterans Stadium in Erie.

Freedom 3, Fairview 2 — Alexa Schwab, Taylor Petroff and Lindsey Kaufmann all scored first-half goals to lead Freedom (14-10) to a PIAA Class A first-round victory at Veterans Stadium in Erie. Goalkeeper Jacklyn Hartle made nine saves. Freedom will play District 4 third-place finisher Bloomsburg in the quarterfinals.

Shady Side Academy 3, Karns City 2 (OT) — Sarah Hacke scored the game-winning-goal in the first overtime to lead Shady Side Academy (18-4) to a PIAA Class A first-round win at Clarion University. Jackie Cepizka scored the tying goal with 13 minutes left in regulation. Elizabeth Harper scored the first goal for the Indians. Goalkeeper Samantha Morlacci recorded 12 saves. Shady Side Academy will play Greensburg Central Catholic on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Field hockey

Penn Manor 2, North Allegheny 1 — Kailey Vogl scored the lone goal for WPIAL champion North Allegheny, which fell to Penns Manor in a PIAA Class AAA first-round game.

Forbes Road 1, Ellis School 0 — Ellis School fell to Forbes Road in a PIAA Class AA first-round matchup.

Girls volleyball

North Allegheny 3, State College 1 — WPIAL runner-up North Allegheny earned a 25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 25-20 victory in a PIAA Class AA first-round match at Central Cambria.

Seneca Valley 3, McDowell 0 — In a Class AAA first-round match at Meadville, WPIAL third-place finisher Seneca Valley earned a 26-24, 25-21, 25-22 victory over the District 10 champ.

Corry 3, Ford City 2 — Brooklyn Goodsel had 39 kills and 30 digs to lead District 10 runner-up Corry to a PIAA first-round victory over WPIAL champion Ford City at North Allegheny, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-12, 16-14. Justyne Lasher had 17 kills for Ford City (18-2).

Thomas Jefferson 3, St. Marys 0 — In a Class AA first-round match at DuBois, WPIAL runner-up Thomas Jefferson earned a 25-14, 25-14, 25-6 victory.

Greensburg C.C. 3, North Star 1 — Leah Bisignani had 14 kills and seven blocks and Lauren Nolfi had 13 kills to lead WPIAL champion Greensburg Central Catholic to a PIAA Class A first-round win at North Allegheny.
