High school roundup: Gateway topples McKeesport

John Paul Kromka had 15 points and 14 rebounds as Gateway earned a 61-55 victory over McKeesport in a Section 2-AAAA boys basketball game Wednesday night.

It was the third straight win for the Gators (10-3, 5-2). Duane Tymous had 15 points for McKeesport (7-6, 4-3).

Fox Chapel 55, Armstrong 39 — In Section 2-AAAA, Mike Zappala had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Brendon Urso added 16 points to give Fox Chapel (3-10, 2-5) a win.

Blackhawk 63, Ambridge 58 (OT) — Chance Siaus had 18 points for Blackhawk (6-7, 3-4) in a Section 2-AAA. Darius Lawrence had 27 points for Ambridge (7-6, 4-3).

Bishop Canevin 68, Seton-La Salle 59 — John Weldon scored 22 points and Mitchell King added 17 as Canevin (10-3, 7-0) won in Section 3-AA.

OLSH 73, Sto-Rox 54 — Ethan Harrell had 25 points and Collin Neville scored 24 points and added 16 rebounds to help No. 5 OLSH (10-3, 5-2) win in Section 5-AA. Jahad Cromer had 30 points for Sto-Rox (3-8, 1-6).

Springdale 50, Riverview, 49 — In the final seconds, Alex Payne hit a 3-point shot as Springdale won in Section 2-A. Payne scored 26 points for Springdale (5-8, 1-4).

Monessen 81, California 40 — Justice Rice had 23 points, Jaron Youngblood added 18 and Jaden Altomore tallied 17 as No. 1 Monessen (11-3, 6-0) cruised to a Section 3-A win.

Jeannette 59, Clairton 57 — Jeannette turned a nine-point deficit into a two-point lead in the final quarter en route to a Section 4-A victory. Swade Redman had four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, when the No. 4 Jayhawks (10-4, 5-0) went on a 25-14 run.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic59, West Shamokin 37 — Ken Fukon had 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals as Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (7-7) won a nonsection game.

Girls basketball

Fox Chapel 51, Armstrong 45 — Gabby Badway had 20 points, including 11 of 11 from the foul line, as Fox Chapel (7-4, 6-1) won in Section 2-AAAA.

Imani Christian 83, Sewickley Academy 47 — Cali Konek had 47 points and 14 assists as Imani Christian (9-5) won a nonsection game.

Wrestling

North Allegheny 52, Mars 18 — Jacob Downing (106 pounds), Jake Hinkson (138), AJ Boeh (145), Sean Kalmeyer (152), Jake Woodley (182) and Chuck Sanders (285) all had pins to carry No. 10 North Allegheny (4-4, 3-1) to a Class AAA, Section 3A victory.

Seneca Valley 50, Pine-Richland18 — Led by pins from Lucas Chieppor (195 pounds), Dante Santelli (285), Jason Geyer (106), Alex Lynch (126), Alex Fischer (138) and John Siwiak (152), No. 9 Seneca Valley (6-3, 4-0) earned a win in Class AAA, Section 3A.
