West View council members unanimously approved a bid for hillside repairs on Bell Drive, which borough officials say is eroding quickly.

The council rejected bids for the project at its March meeting because the lowest bid was about $60,000 more than what was budgeted for the project.

The bid council accepted April 10 from Golden Triangle Construction was for $119,900, which still is more than the $85,000 budgeted for the project.

Council members sought new bids in March that didn't include the cost of road repaving and guide-rail reconstruction, which borough employees will do.

Council President Barry Schell said borough officials noticed that the hillside on Bell Drive was eroding quickly in the past year and put up barricades last summer along the side of the road.
