Hobby Lobby to open Robinson store Sept. 5

Hobby Lobby, a national retail chain of arts and crafts store, will hold a grand opening of its first Pittsburgh-area store at 9 a.m. Sept. 5 in the former Giant Eagle location in Robinson.

The Oklahoma City-based company could have a soft opening several days ahead if the store is ready, said Vince Parker, director of training and customer service.

Between 30 to 50 will be employed in the 61,000-square-foot facility, located at Steubenville Pike and Campbells Run Road, off Interstate 376. This is the chain's fifth Pennsylvania store, the first in the western portion of the state.

There are no immediate plans to open another Hobby Lobby store in the region, but if the company does, it probably will be in a building with 55,000 to 60,000 square feet of space, Parker said.
