Accommodations for London's homeless during the holidays have been expanded to allow for at least 60 homeless dogs, The Guardian said Thursday. The homeless charity called Crisis said as part of its annual practice of converting part of London's large Millennium Dome facility into a temporary shelter, it had teamed up with a veterinary service to care for the dogs. The compound will care for pets while their homeless owners get training, health treatment and housing advice. The charity will also conduct a series of training workshops from in a bid to help the homeless identify skills they can pursue, the newspaper said. Some 4,500 volunteers are involved in this year's campaign, which is 1,500 more than usual. The doors opened Thursday will stay open until Dec. 30. © Copyright 2004 by United Press International
