Homer City family drops lawsuit in death

The parents of two brothers from Indiana County who were killed in a shootout with police in Boise, Idaho, have dropped a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the city.

Doug and Craig Brodrick of Homer City and Boise police Officer Mark Stall died in the September 1997 shootout next to a bar.

The Brodricks' parents, Martin and Patty Brodrick, filed a $20 million federal civil rights lawsuit against the city of Boise over their sons' deaths. They dropped the suit Feb. 20.

The men died during what police felt started as a routine traffic stop. The Brodricks have insisted all along that their sons, Craig, 29, and Doug, 27, were innocent. Police said the duo fired at officers first.

The Idaho Attorney General's Office said it found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by police officers involved. A U.S. Department of Justice investigation concluded police did not violate the Brodricks' civil rights.
