‘Hotel Frankenstein’ opens at Geyer on Friday
The Geyer Performing Arts Center is hoping to add a little more fun into the schedule for children and adults alike.
For the Artist and Actors of Fayette County family showcase, Martha Oliver will be at the helm of the comedic performance of “Hotel Frankenstein.”
Oliver said the play kind of fell into her hands when the original director was unable to continue due to work obligations.
“It’s not a script I would have chosen to direct, but I’m having a lot of fun with it,” Oliver said.
The show centers around Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson who is trying to fix the mistake his grandfather made with his infamous invention.
“Instead of putting a brain from a mentally deficient person into his creation, the grandson decides he’s going to get a better brain,” Oliver said.
With this goal in mind, the grandson opens up a hotel in order to find a candidate for his creation among the boarders.
Unfortunately for him, that task is harder than he thought it would be.
“It’s really a hysterical play and it’s one that the whole family will enjoy,” she said.
Brad Geyer, president of the Geyer Performing Arts Center’s board of directors, said the show is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. All tickets are $5.
“This is really a great pick for Halloween weekend,” he said. “It’s a great family show and if they attend on Sunday, the kids can come to the show dressed in their costumes and then head out afterwards to go trick-or-treating.”
