To the editor:

Where, oh, where was the sense of charity from our teacher's union?

It really does give some of us a feeling of charitable satisfaction to contribute to some of the many needy requests that flood our mailboxes.

It has been noted that there have been noticeable cuts to the amount being donated while the need for donations is becoming desperate.

I am a Highlands School District taxpayer whose bill recently jumped a sizable amount. At the same time, many of us have seen not one red cent of added income from bonuses, COLA, paid health care or long-term health care insurance paid for us.

Where, oh, where was the sense of charity from our teacher's union• Some other districts stepped up.

Well, it's a simple solution for me -- retired from a profession I loved being a part of for 36 years.

My share cannot be donated to cancer, heart disease, veterans, starving children, diabetes, muscular dystrophy, and so on because it was given to Highlands School District.

I'm truly sorry folks!
