Illegalssaved from hot Texas trailer home

Sheriff's deputies found two dozen illegal immigrants being held captive in a hot trailer home near Houston Wednesday.

A neighbor flagged down a school district police officer to report the suspicious activity at the trailer. Nineteen Honduran immigrants, including two women, two boys and one girl, were rescued, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The aliens were reportedly living in unhealthy conditions, with scant water and fans. They told investigators they had been guarded around the clock by armed men, Harris County Sheriff's Capt. Robert VanPelt said.

The immigrants were thin, but did not appear to be starving, he said.

Deputies were unable to find the renter or make any arrests, but they confiscated some guns. The owner said a man claiming to be from Mexico began renting the trailer home last summer.

The illegal immigrants were taken to a detention center to await processing by U.S. immigration officials.
