Improve yourself, improve your pay
Anyone who thinks that a fast-food employee deserves $15 an hour needs to re-evaluate his thinking.
If fast-food employees double their salary, you will see fewer people working in these places as touch-screen computers to take orders or other measures will be put in place to cut costs.
Lucille Homoki ( “Minimum wage” ) is correct when stating “high school grads need these jobs to get work experience and pay for college.”
Deroy Crews ( “Working hard in fast food” ) also was spot-on when saying that his daughter was working fast food while going to medical school. That is great.
That is exactly what I did. I got myself marketable skills so I could earn a livable wage.
I worked in the restaurant industry for more than a decade while I attended school. I worked full time while I earned my bachelor’s degree. I worked full time and went to school full time because my family didn’t have the means to pay for my education and I didn’t want to flip burgers for the rest of my life.
I worked to improve my life and didn’t kick and scream when my employer wouldn’t double my salary.
These high school grads are learning real-life skills and they will carry those skills with them in their future endeavors, hopefully earning that livable wage.
This country has many ways to improve oneself but not many take the initiative to make their lives better. They think it is easier to protest and demand instead of earning it.
